Helianthus is a Zettelkasten notetaking tool written in Rust. Helianthus is the binomial name for the sunflower, after the Greek helios (sun) + anthos (flower).

It owes a lot to Forester and Kodama.

It is admittedly a vibecoded tool for personal use, and I have no intention of maintaining it for others to use. This is simply meant to be a tool for my personal organization. I’m usually not well organized, and a big contributor to this is a lack of organizational systems for myself. When met with the obstacle of cognitive burden twoard planning, note taking, and the like, I am inclined to shy away. I don’t love that this is the case, but I am trying to accept that it is. To the end of being a bit more put together than the day before, I will take any help in that direction (even AI-slopped help). Use at your own risk.
